First of all Sheffield Financial charged a loan origination fee of $71.00, which is understandable, although that wasn't explained to me. But when I went to make a payment, I find that they are going to charge me $5.99 each month I make a payment.

But what really took the cake is, being that I am a conservative person, I decided to pay the loan off to keep from making the $5.99 payment each month over 12 months.

By doing they are charging $114.99 which is more than carrying the loan over a 12 month period at $5.99. They advertise interest free but they collect more fees than they would have collected in reasonable interest.

Shady Interest Collections, *** Customer Service

I purchased a 4 seat Kawasaki UTV and the loan was with Sheffield Financial. With over 11.75% interest (for a customer with a 779 credit score to boot), I decided to pay the over $18000.00 financed amount off in a few lum sum payments, rather than letting them get so much money in interest for a loan I didn't want to draw out for the full term.

I made two $5000.00 payments in a row and then another $2000 payment. Not looking at my previous statements, I had noticed that although I was paid ahead 3 years on the loan, they had taken almost $400.00 interest out of the $2000.00 payment, even though my statement clearly reads $1.72 daily interest accrues. They took 500% more interest out of my bulk payment than was due for 1 month at the current rate. My entire interest paid in 2013 was less than they took from my one principle payment.

Apparently you can't make principle payments?

They will be sued or audited after I receive my accounting. Rip off someone else you ***

I also paid a lump sum. And noticed that the funds were applied to future months not applied to the principal.

I contacted via email (so that documentation was had) and explained business accounting 101 to them. I received a reply back. They do not take payments applied to the principal- they only apply the payment to future months. So according to Sheffield I do not need to make a payment until Nobember 2016, yet I receive a bill every month like clock work.

Even if I were to pay off the loan (Less then $800 now) they would still charge me the full interest as if I were making regular payments.

Oh well. Will not be doing business with them in the future.

file a complaint with the bbb in your area,l had a problem and it was fixed fast.they dont want any bad reports with the bbb,it doesnt come off that easy unless your happy with them fixing the problem

Sounds like to me you paid ahead and then stopped paying monthly payments? Only thing I can think of that makes sense

Review in Loans and Mortgages category from Coffeyville, Kansas

I have a complaint about Sheffield. My credit score is 610,yet because of a felony charge 23 years ago you discriminate against me.

No delinquencies $45,000 credit line with a credit Union;yet you discriminate against me due to public opinion of my felony.

YOU DO NOT DESERVE MY BUSINESS OR TO EVEN BE IN BUSINESS!!!!

Your credit sucks, 610 is not a good score. They denied your loan because you're financially irresponsible, your criminal record doesn't even show up on a credit report.

reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1469046

610 is about a C+. Not quite in the "sucks" category, but may as well be. Lenders see you paid off 5 car loans in 12 years and no collections, but if you got in a financial pinch 4 years ago and struggled with just 1 credit card, you're crap to them.

Guest

Yes

Felony charges effect you in SO many ways. Just remember that is not the lenders fault.

Guest

I hear ya they discriminate against me just for a 6 year old bankruptcy. I make 40k a year.

Get denied in under 30 seconds. I could understand if it was recently but I make good money, own my home and have a truck payment.

I've paid off a loan from these people, does that matter. Nope....

Sheffield Financial - Bike Financing Review from Thomasville, North Carolina

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Horrible finance company or shoul i say borrowing money from the mob. I was close to 2 months late which i had the money to pay in full but instead tjey had my bike repo but i still wasnt mad yet i called them the next day to try and get it out which 2 months was only 398 plus 335 for the repo fees.

I call them back to pay the 733 but than was told since it hasnt been a year year and i have BREACH my contract. Which wasnt true cause i read their policy very clearly they told me it was going to cost $2000 to get it out so i got upset and argue with them and threaten them that if they could call my house to get the payment they can call before sending someone out on my property and lift my motorcycle cover off my bike in my yard before even knocking on the door which they did i told them i was going to let the dog out on them. so than my sister call money in hand all $2000 to get it out than they bump it up to $10000 because evidentally i was threaten them with my dog when clearly tjey was trespassing. And $10000 was the bike payoff....

Youre a finance company and thats what it is if im paying $10000 for the payoff than it wouldnt be financing anymore pretty much im just buying it over again plus not to mention even if i was to get it out they stated that it will still mess my credit up and the repo will still show on the credit report.

So why would i do that i let them kept that bike which had already been dropped a few times and couple things was already broken (at the time new rider) but i would never spend 10000 to get it back i rather just go get another one for tjat amount which i did and i owned..... These people are very unprofessional so make sure tjat its not sheffield.

I went to Sheffield Financial to work hard and to learn from people who had been there for years. I was met with politics, unprofessional behavior from my supervisor and the good ole boys club.

Everyone stood around talking about the good ole days, and if you didn't have seniority, or didn't fit in you weren't there for long. This made me feel excluded and I felt like my job was always on the line. I had to run my boss down to figure out who I was training with every day, and I was let go without explanation.

It was horrible! I just thought they should know how they made me feel.

Customer Service Needs Training On Customer Service

This email to inform you that I am considering paying off my loan. When I received confirmation that my loan was approved I contacted Sheffield’s customer service department to set up direct draft from my checking account. I was told that I would have to go online and do this myself. After setting up an online account I contacted Sheffield’s customer service department for instructions to set up my account. I entered everything as instructed and assumed every thing was fine. After the first scheduled payment date I received a call from Sheffield stating that my account was pass due. After discussing possible reasons as to why my direct draft did not go through I went on line and made the pass due payment to bring my account up to date. For this transaction I was charged a $10.00 convenience fee. After talking to Sheffield’s customer service department as to correct the problem with my bank draft, I was first told that my checking account number was entered incorrectly. After reentering my banking account and routing number I just happened to notice on my detail account information there was a $ 40.00 charge that puzzled me. I contacted Sheffield’s customer department again and was told that the draft request came back from my bank stating there were insufficient funds to cover the draft request. I told the Sheffield repersenitive about the conversation I had had earlier with another repersenitive and that I was told the draft would not go through because my account # was entered incorrectly. Now I have one Sheffield repersenitive telling me the account number was wrong and another Sheffield repersenitive telling me the number was right but the account did not have sufficient funds to cover the draft request. I expressed my confusion to the Sheffield repersenitive and stated I did not think the $ 40. 00 charge was fair or justified. She put me on hold to check with her manager and then told me I had to pay the $ 40.00 and “take my concerns up with my bank”. I called my bank and they checked and told there had not been a draft request on my account. As you can see by my credit score I am not someone that takes my finances lightly. In my thirty some years of banking I have never been late on a payment nor had an insufficient fund charge. Your customer service department personal desperately needs training in true customer service. I have been your customer for less than two months and it has cost me $ 50.00 and a lot of grief. I had the same problem, I think Sheffield financial is using this as a tactic to make money on their 0% interest loans.

I will be reporting this fraudulent business tactic to the BBB of Charlotte NC.

They financed the RZR I bought

DON"T DO IT!!! WHAT A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!

It took over five months to get my title after paying it off completely!!

How can you sell your vehicle to another party with that kind of service? What potential used RZR buyer would agree to wait that long? What new buyer wants to wait that long? They have no respect for other peoples lives Obviously customer service is not their goal.

If you get an extended warranty and your new buyer doesn't want it, selling it back is a nightmare! They waste your time trying to figure out if your trying to rip off the warranty!

Your payment in full will clear the bank and then the wait begins with no notice that they have your money. Doesn't matter how polite or how much disrepair they cause you.

THEY JUST DON'T CARE!

Lesson learned, I hope, don't try to sell a vehicle without clear title in hand! Duh.

i work at Sheffield and i can assure you that customer service is our main objective. We try to very considerate of our customers and offer alot more options that most companies, such as paying your loan off early without penalty.

Depending on how you pay your loan off depends on how quickly you can get your title back. Also many people are not aware that everything is not title depending on the state and the unit. Our dealers do our title work for us, so we have no control over if a title was received. We have to wait at least 20 days to release titles or lien release when paid in full with personal funds because the customer has the ability to dispute the charge by us for up to 20 days with your bank.

im not making excuses, but maybe this gives some clarification on the issue.

hope this helps.

Same experience! I paid off my Razor loan in full with a bank check and specifically requested expedited Title which they state would be within 10 days.

It is now 30 days and they told me "USPS must have lost it". Customer Service Rep I have talked to today was rude and short. Now I have to wait another 10 days for a lien release and then sit in a CT DMV for an entire day to request a title search (Because thats how slow CT DMV works).

During the 2 years I never paid late and never had any issues with them but I gave them no reason to have any problems.

However when you pay over 14K for a machine, you want that title in hand when it is due to you. At least they could spend the extra .55 cents for delivery confirmation, or you would think the extra $2.00 for certified letter wouldn't hurt them!

I am so glad this venue exist. New applicant.

I thank you all for sharing your experience.

I will not go through with my application.

Your loss, I have used Sheffield on four seperate ocassions over the past ten years for a total of just under $70,000.00 with different vendors for three ATVs and two snowmobiles and have never encountered a problem. Their customer service has been nothing but helpful and respectful even suggesting a lower interest rate loan on one occasion which allowed me to pay my $15,000 snowmobile off prematurely. I would reccommend them 100% and would add that my son has two current loans from them now and has had the same experience to this point.

SHEFFIED HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I tried to make a payment several times on lines, and kept getting an error reading. I was told to wait an hour, and do it again. I did , and it did not work, I called again, they told me it was up and do it again, I did and did not work, I called and spoke to someone, and they told me it was up and do it again. I asked if they would please take it for me, and they told me to try it again. I asked to speak to a Manager, and was told she was the Manager. She told me if she takes it , it will be a 10.00 charge. I asked if it could be waived, as their system was done, and she said no, as it is working. I did it again, did not work, I called again, and was told that the account I have, are few, and to call back.

We are a dealer with Sheffield and they go above and beyond in customer service. It is so hard in business theses days as each and every deal is different.

Some thing have titles some things have certificate of origin and so many people want things instantly anymore.

Their customer service is excellent and they care about their customers. There us so much fraud in the credit world and Sheffield goes above and beyond to keep their customers safe from that.

I ran into same problem numerous times in different months. Would never finance with them again.

Sheffield Financial is not a bad company.

I was late on my payments continuously 'til the point I was late 2 months for muiltiple times. This is my fault for not picking up the phone and tell them my situation. Long story short. The repo man came, but had a change of heart and did not take my bike. I. Then called Sheffield (finally after they tried to contact me for at least 5 months). I was greeted with respect and told them I didnt want to tell them a sob story but I was Injured and could not work. The women offers to help right away. Charging me for my first late month due which is 250 plus 10 for processing fee and 73 for "holiday coupon" , which means I can skip my second late payment and the next current payment until the end of my loan. They did not have to do that nor offer me any special deals. I might got lucky but try to talk to people before its too late is the moral of the story.

Crazy fees, and bad customer service

I financed a zero turn mower through Sheffield. Had a $4k loan. Put 1200 down, paid about 2000 a few months into it. Now after the economy fell through, I fell on hard times. And I am having trouble with payments. My payments are only $70. The late fees are $40. (half of a payment). I recently found out that the interest is their standard 17.59% (crazy). No one can get out of a loan like this. Unless you have big money. And everyone I talked to at the company is rude. They will talk to you like you're beneath them. And I have been cut off many times when talking to them, no matter how nice or polite I was. I could pay it during tax time, but I might not now! "don't use Sheffield Financial" ohh and fyi, they are affiliated partners with BB&T. Another sorry bank. Use local banks, they listen!
